Biography
Dr. Nancy Shuman-Miller is Associate
Professor of Psychology and Social Sciences Department Head at Oklahoma State
University - Oklahoma City. She holds a
BS and an MS in Psychology from Texas A & M University- Commerce and a PhD
in Christian Counseling from American Bible College & Seminary, Oklahoma
City. An additional two years of
doctoral course work with a major in General Psychology (clinical emphasis) and
a minor in Guidance & Counseling with an emphasis in Marital & Family
Therapy was completed at Texas A & M University – Commerce. Her Masters Clinical Practicum was completed
at the Psychiatric Ward, Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans’ Hospital, Bonham,
Texas. Dr. Shuman-Miller received her
Texas State certification as a Psychological Associate. She maintains
membership in the American Psychological Association (APA), the Christian
Association for Psychological Studies (CAPS), the Society for the Teaching of
Psychology (STP) and Oklahoma Network for Teachers of Psychology (ONTOP). The professor is a Multiple Year Honoree in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. In addition, Dr. Shuman-Miller is a multiple
year nominee for the OSU-OKC Distinguished Teaching Award. Dr. Shuman-Miller lived in Seoul, South
Korea, and taught at the University of Maryland – Asian Division four years
before moving to the Oklahoma City area.
She recently completed residency as a Member of the Oxford Round Table,
Oxford University, England. The
professor has traveled widely in the Far East, and Northern, Middle, and
Eastern Europe. Dr. Shuman-Miller is
married, has four children and eight grandchildren. Her passion is teaching and international
travel. Personal interests include Bible
study, pets, old books, and gardening.
