Biography
Dr. Nancy
Shuman-Miller is Associate Professor of Psychology and Social Sciences
Department Head at Oklahoma State University
- Oklahoma City. She holds a BS and an MS in Psychology from Texas A
& M University-
Commerce and a PhD in Christian Counseling from American Bible College &
Seminary, Oklahoma City. An additional
two years of doctoral course work with a major in General Psychology (clinical
emphasis) and a minor in Guidance & Counseling with an emphasis in Marital
& Family Therapy was completed at Texas A & M University-Commerce. Her Masters Clinical Practicum was completed
at the Psychiatric Ward, Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans’ Hospital, Bonham, Texas. Dr. Shuman-Miller received her Texas State
certification as a Psychological Associate. She maintains membership in the
American Psychological Association (APA), the Christian Association for
Psychological Studies (CAPS) and the Society for the Teaching of
Psychology. The professor is a Multiple
Year Honoree in Who’s Who Among America’s
Teachers. In addition, Dr.
Shuman-Miller is a multiple year nominee for the OSU-OKC Distinguished Teaching
Award. Dr. Shuman-Miller lived in Seoul, South Korea,
and taught at the University of Maryland – Asian Division four years before moving to
the Oklahoma City
area. She has traveled widely in the Far
East, and Northern, Middle, and Eastern Europe. Dr. Shuman-Miller is married, has four
children and six grandchildren. Her
passion is teaching and international travel.
Personal interests include Bible study, pets, old books, and gardening.
