About the RC BOTS Academy

Remote Controlled Basics of Technology, or RC BOTS Summer Academy, is a two-week commuter academy that uses critical thinking and scientific principles to solve real world problems in a challenging and entertaining way.

During the camp, each student will learn the basic concepts of electronic assembly, computer programming and design, in order to build a superior robot that will excel at three specific challenges against 19 other robots designed and built by classmates.

[Robot Image]Students begin with a series of classes that include safety, soldering, programming concepts and structural design, during which they will build small projects. They will then be given the tools and materials to design and buld their creation to complete the first challenge set. Thereafter, the robot will be modified to meet each additional challenge. Students will also be given information on college and job opportunities in the engineering field.

Students will learn skills that will prove to be beneficial now and in their future, such as:

  • Critical Thinking
  • Problem Solving
  • Making Friends and Working with Others
  • Computer Programming
  • Soldering
  • Workspace Safety
  • Sportsmanship and the Art of Friendly Competition
