Revised Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy
Federal regulations require the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office to monitor the academic progress of students who apply for federal financial aid. Due to regulatory changes from the U.S. Department of Education, our Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy has been revised. The revised policy is on our website and we encourage you to thoroughly review the policy for which you will be measured against at the end of the fall 2011 semester.
Key changes of the policy are listed below:
Measurement of Grade Point Average – grade point average will now be measured with the Graduation/Retention GPA instead of the Cumulative GPA
Completion Ratio (PACE) – completion ratio will now be measure cumulatively instead of by term. Students are now expected to complete 67% of their cumulative attempted hours. To determine your completion ratio, review your transcript then divide the number of earned hours by the number of attempted hours.
Number of Earned Hours
Number of Attempted Hours
Excessive Hours (Maximum Timeframe of Eligibility) Treatment – students will now be allowed to attempt 126 hours (associates) before being treated as ineligible for federal student aid. At the end of fall 2011, students who have attempted 126 or more hours will be deemed ineligible for financial aid for the spring 2012 and future terms. Students in this situation will need to submit a financial aid appeal and receive an appeal approval in order to be considered eligible for aid at OSU-Oklahoma City. Financial Aid Appeal forms are on our website.
Again, we encourage all financial aid applicants to read the revised policy and review your academic transcript NOW to prepare for potential changes in your financial aid status for the spring 2012 term. Please direct any specific questions you have regarding your status following fall 2011 to: finaid@osuokc.edu
