Applying for Aid
Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City Federal School Code:
009647
Students may apply for Federal Financial Aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students must reapply yearly. Application processing begins January 1st of each year. Student Financial Aid staff members are always available to assist applicants in completing their applications. In addition, we offer informational sessions geared toward assisting applicants with the federal aid application.
The FAFSA form is available at most high schools and colleges. You can also apply online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.
How to Apply
If you applied for Federal Student Aid in the previous school year, you should
be able to file a renewal FAFSA. The Department of Education should send you a reminder,
either through regular mail or e-mail (depending on whether or not you provided
your e-mail address to the federal processor). This reminder would include your
PIN, which you would use to complete your Renewal FAFSA online and sign it electronically.
If you applied using a paper FAFSA in the prior year, you would receive a paper
Renewal FAFSA. If so, you should review the pre-printed information, make necessary
adjustments or additions, sign it, and mail it to the federal processor. DO NOT
submit the FAFSA to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
If you didn’t apply for federal student aid for the previous school year, you can apply by completing the FAFSA for the year you are applying. You can apply through the internet, using FAFSA on the Web, or you can complete a paper FAFSA which can be obtained from our office. All applicants are encouraged to apply via the internet since it is faster and more efficient means of applying.
To apply for a PIN to electronically sign your application, you can go to www.pin.ed.gov. The application process can take up to two months, depending on when you apply; therefore we encourage you to apply as early as possible.
Once the Federal Application has been processed, the Federal Student Aid Processing Center will send you a Student Aid Report (SAR), if you applied using the paper FAFSA, or SAR acknowledgement if you applied electronically. Please review these documents and follow the instructions given to correct any errors. Once OSU-OKC has reviewed your application for federal student aid, you will be notified in writing if additional information or documentation is required.
