OSU-OKC Legacy Endowed Scholarship Fund #30-94200

All donor gifts will be matched 1.5 to 1. One increasing challenge at OSU-Oklahoma City is to keep college affordable. The typical student at this campus is mid-to-late twenties with both family responsibilities and a job, often a full-time job. Given the increasing cost of living, including food, gasoline, etc., and the cost of tuition, fees and books, many of our students find it increasingly difficult to attend college. Because of these financial pressures, some students are unable to attend college, stay in school or take as many courses as they would like. Mr. Boone Pickens has agreed to make a testamentary gift to match all gifts to this fund 1.5 to 1 up to $200,000. Therefore, the goal of $200,000 is matched with $300,000 to make it a $500,000 endowed scholarship yielding approximately $25,000 per year in perpetuity for scholarships at OSU-OKC. This means your gift of $100 becomes a gift of $250, or your gift of $1,000 becomes a gift of $2,500, etc. Goal: $200,000 by February, 2015.

OSU-OKC Health Technologies Educational Facility Fund #30-93700

OSU-Oklahoma City’s Health Sciences Division has added new programs and expanded its nursing program significantly in recent years. Also, new programs are being developed or planned for the near future. All these are attempts to help meet the increasing demand for better health care for Oklahomans. Without an adequate health care educational facility OSU-Oklahoma City cannot make an even greater contribution to the solution of the shortage of trained health care workers and the health care of its community. Developing programs in pharmacy technology, dietetic technology, etc., can only succeed and new programs can only be added if a facility is established. A new health education center is necessary and would include classrooms and conference rooms, an auditorium seating 200 people, 25 offices, a clinical lab with 10-12 beds and storage space. Naming opportunities are available. Goal: $1 Million.

OSU-OKC Student Success Opportunity Center Fund #30-70100

The OSU-OKC Student Success Opportunity Center is envisioned to be a resource for students who, for whatever reason, need help navigating higher education. The Center is meant to intercept and mitigate students’ challenges, prompting students to become active participants in their education and providing guidance for as long as they need it through graduation. The Center will promote academic and personal success, provide close mentorship and give students opportunities to have a personal connection to the University. Through building relationships with staff and advisors, students gain self-confidence and have an immediate internal support network. The SSOC will provide students at OSU-OKC a central location for assistance in developing and achieving their personal and academic goals, whether that is an associates’ degree, career certificate or preparation to attend a four-year college. The SSOC will engage students intensively, set high expectations and provide more structure and clearer pathways earlier in their OSU-OKC experience to improve retention and graduation rates. Funds provide additional advising staff, academic tutors, reading specialist, a Math Lab, a Writing Lab and a Career Center. Naming opportunities are available. Goal: $13 Million.

OSU-OKC Endowed Chairs and Professorships

OSU-OKC currently has no endowed chairs or professorships. Endowed chairs and professorships are associated with the best universities and colleges around the world. They are elite faculty positions. When chairs are endowed, funds are raised, restricted and invested in order to generate annual income from which support for the distinguished professor is allocated. Eligible for state match, these positions can multiply exponentially in value to dramatically impact education. Establishing an endowed chair or professorship is also a way to honor the outstanding, prestigious and influential professors at OSU who inspire, enhance and challenge young minds. Goal: $1 Million.

OSU-OKC Wellness Center/Gymnasium Fund #30-95450

The health and wellness of students, faculty and staff is an important concern at any higher education institution. In the new master plan, the wellness facilities would be expanded in a new building to the east of the existing facility with a similar view over the ornamental pond and broad views to the OKC downtown area. It is proposed that while providing gym and other health facilities this building would be multi-purpose with conference meeting spaces and the potential for large gatherings such as convocations and commencements. Naming opportunities are available. Goal: $5 Million.

OSU-OKC Campus Beautification and Improvement Fund # 30-95150

Research shows that prospective students and faculty make up their minds about whether to attend a university within the first 15 minutes of a visit based on their initial impression of the campus. The campus should outwardly reflect the values of the community and its business partners. To begin to address these issues, the campus is undergoing a face-lift. The interiors are being repainted to reflect the OSU brand; outside banners and signage are being installed to announce the changes. The excitement of these initial steps in building a better place is palpable and is evident in the social media frequented by students. Your gift will support improving the infrastructure and look of the campus that is part of the new OSU-OKC Master Plan. Goal: $500,000.
