The OSU-Oklahoma City Testing and Assessment Center administers and interprets a wide variety of tests.

Faculty Make-up Examinations - Should a student miss an exam in the classroom, the instructor may make the test available in the Testing and Assessment Center. Students must know the name of the instructor for whom the test is being given. COMPASS™ – Prospective students take COMPASS™ for placement purposes at OSU-OKC. COMPASS™ is a comprehensive, computerized test system that determines appropriate placement in reading, writing and math courses. Students can take this test up to three times per semester. Individuals who have not graduated from high school, or do not have a GED, must pass all parts of the COMPASS at one testing session to qualify for financial aid. Prospective students must inform the testing staff that they are taking Ability to Benefit tests. Cost: First time, no charge for prospective OSU-OKC students. Retakes, $4 per test. $15 charge if taking this test for another institution. Time: No time limit.

These samples illustrate the types of questions students will encounter in the COMPASS™ placement measures.
ACT (National) – This is a college assessment for mathematics, English, reading, and science. Registration packets (including a sample test) are available in the Testing and Assessment Center. ACT scores are applicable at all colleges and universities. Participants must register at least a month in advance to pay the lower fee. Registration and payment must be made with the national ACT office. Cost: $28 - $59 Time: 8 a.m. to noon Dates: October 27, and December 8, 2007; February 9, April 12, June 14, 2008
Practice Tests ACT, SAT, PSAT, GED, CLEP
For ACT practice tests, as well as other practice tests, click the above link. Create your personal portfolio by clicking on "My Portfolio" then fill in the required information and create your personal user name and password. Once you've created your portfolio, the practice tests will be available. ACT (Residual) – This test covers the same four subject areas as the National ACT, but scores will only be accepted at Oklahoma State University campuses. The residual ACT can be taken every 60 days. A brochure describing the residual ACT can be picked up in the Assessment Center. Cost: $40, must be paid to the OSU-OKC Business Office prior to registration Time: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dates: Click here for the 2008 Residual ACT Schedule. CLEP - College-Level Examination Program - CLEP is a national test used to obtain college credit for the equivalent course. A list of courses and study guides can be picked up in the Testing and Assessment Center. Cost: $85 ($100 for Freshman Composition I and II test). Advanced Payment Required Time: 1.5 hours (Freshman Composition, 3 hours) GED - General Educational Development - The GED is a series of five tests (mathematics, English writing, science, social studies and reading) that assess the knowledge and skills expected of U.S. high school graduates. An application may be filled out at the Testing and Assessment Center. Applications will be submitted to the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Upon successful completion, a person will receive a certificate equivalent to a high school diploma. Cost: $55, due at time of application. Time: 7 hours and 5 minutes – Tuesdays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. HESI A2 - Health Education Systems, Inc - HESI A2 is the OSU-OKC Nursing Program admission examination. An appointment to take the exam is required. Contact the Testing and Assessment Center for scheduling information. Cost: $50 Advanced Payment Required Time: 3 hours and 50 minutes Deadlines: October 1 for spring admission and April 1 for fall admission. December 1 and July 1 for LPNs. SPEAK – SPEAK measures oral English proficiency. International students are required to take this test to enter the OSU-OKC Nursing program. Cost: $135 Advanced Payment Required Time: 20 minutes Deadlines: March 1 and September 1 of the semester prior to entering the Nursing program. LPN’s deadlines are June 1 and November 1. TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language - The TOEFL is required of all students for whom English is their second language. OSU-OKC offers the institutional version of the TOEFL for students who have not taken or passed the national TOEFL exam. A minimum score of 500 is required for admission to OSU-OKC. All students who wish to take TOEFL must pre-register after payment is made. Cost: $50.00 Advanced Payment Required Time: 3 hours Test dates: May 21, August 6 and December 17, 2008, 9 a.m. to noon Proctor Service provided for correspondence tests for other universities.
