Professional Truck Driver Training (CDL)

Dates

September 2017
Monday-Friday, 5-10 p.m.
Saturdays, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Experience the course at OSU-OKC’s state-of-the-art facility with a driving range equipped with a ¾-mile highway course and skill pad practice areas designed to allow each student to develop the skills necessary to become proficient in driving today’s tractor trailers.

 

Central Technology Center is a highly established truck driver training center in Oklahoma, and now they are bringing their years of experience and track record to OSU-OKC.

 

Two students per truck allows each student a minimum of 44 hours of drive-time ensuring the ability to develop proficient driving skills including:

 
  • Control/Vehicle Systems
  • Vehicle Pre-Trip Inspection
  • FMCSA Rules & Regulations
  • Air Brakes Systems
  • Coupling & Uncoupling
  • Various Backing Maneuvers
  • Progressive Shifting
  • Space & Speed Management
  • Compliance Safety & Accountability (CSA)
  • Hours of Service
  • Night Driving
 

Participant requirements:

  • 21 or older
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Safe driving record
  • No drug or alcohol related offense within last five years
  • Meet minimum Department of Transportation on physical requirements
  • Citizen of the United States or legal resident alien
  • Able to read, write and speak the English language fluently enough to converse with the public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records

Prerequisite

  • Obtain Class A Learner’s Permit and Department of Transportation physical before being scheduled for a class
 

Benefits of Early Endorsements

Students can save money by taking endorsements exams before obtaining a CDL and make extra pay as soon as they graduate. If you choose to do so, take advantage of our online practice tests for General Knowledge, Combination Vehicle, Air Brakes, HAZMAT, Doubles & Triples, and Tank Vehicles.

 

Tuition

  • Oklahoma Residents: $4995
  • Out-of-State Residents: $6750
 

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance might be available for those who qualify.

   

This course, offered through a partnership with Central Technology Center, is the only course in Oklahoma to be PTDI-certified meeting stringent skill, curriculum and course/program standards. The program utilizes classroom instruction, range and road driving, as well as practical application of skills used in highway driving.

 

Participants will be prepared to join the trucking industry after eight weeks of training!

Upon successful completion of the class/exams and having met all requirements, students earn:

 
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Central Tech Truck Driver Training certificate of completion
  • PDTI seal of attainment indicating completion of all standards
