Federal Work-Study Program - For Students

Work-Study is a federally-funded program that enables eligible students to be employed by OSU-OKC either on-or off-campus. This program is designed to give students the opportunity to work part-time to help meet the costs of their postsecondary education. Students are paid $7.25 an hour and may work up to 20 hours per week depending on individual eligibility.

Guidelines:

  1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and indicate that Federal Work-Study Program (FWSP) as a type of aid for which you want to be considered (Q.31).
  2. Submit all requested documentation to the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships.
  3. As soon as your application has been processed by the OSU-OKC Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships, you will receive an award letter reflecting an offer for FWSP (pending available funds).
  4. You will need to return your award letter, indicating that you wish to accept the FWSP offer to the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships.
  5. After you have been awarded Work-Study, you may contact Gil Smith, Work-Study Coordinator, to confirm your interest in the Work-Study Program and receive help on how to apply for each individual position online.
  6. Complete the Application for Employment** on the OSU System Jobs web page http://www.osuokc.edu/jobs
  7. After completing the Application for Employment, search for work-study (student) positions available on line at http://www.osuokc.edu/jobs for the OSU-Oklahoma City campus. Submit your Application on-line. (Work Study - Academic Year 2009 - 2010)
  8. The Work-Study Coordinator will send a copy of your Application to the department(s) with positions available.
  9. The Hiring Supervisor of the department will review application(s) and contact you to schedule an interview.
  10. Once a decision is made, the Hiring Supervisor will contact the Work-Study Coordinator and you.
  11. The Work-Study Coordinator will prepare and send the Work-Study Verification Form & Contract to the Hiring Supervisor.
  12. The Hiring Supervisor and the student, will read and sign the Work-Study Verification Form & Contract. The student delivers the contact to Work-Study Coordinator (Student Center, room 154).
  13. Student then takes a copy of the Work-Study Verification Form & Contract, driver license and social security card to the Human Resources office to complete the hiring process before starting to work.

** Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City conducts OSBI background checks on all employees.
** Hiring for the Fall 2009 Semester will start on or after July 21, 2009.
