OSU-OKC Nursing Graduate Named Nurse of Year

Registered nurse Simone Driggins has beem named the Oklahoma City Public School Nurse of the Year. She has 20 years of experience and has worked for the district the past seven years.

 

Simone Driggins, of Oklahoma City, was named Oklahoma City Public School Nurse of the Year for the 2014-15 school year.

 

Driggins, a registered nurse who graduated from Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City, has 20 years of experience and has worked for the Oklahoma City school district for seven years. Her nursing staff peers chose her for the award.

 

Driggins is responsible for securing a school wellness initiative grant from the Oklahoma Caring Foundation for preventive health services for students in her district, according to the citation issued by the state House of Representatives.

 

She thanked her mother, Sylvia Pollard Driggins, a writer and musician who was given a centennial humanitarian award in 2007, for her college education and career success, and her grandfather, World War II veteran Charles L. Pollard Sr., of Spencer, who died Nov. 9.
