OSU-OKC Agriculture Resource Center Dedicated
(OKLAHOMA CITY) - Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City hosted the grand opening of its new Agriculture Resource Center on Tuesday, March 11. The opening allowed the public to tour the facility and learn more about OSU-OKC’s veterinary technology and horticulture degree programs.
“This much anticipated occasion celebrates the dedication and vision of those who have donated, planned and constructed the ARC,” said OSU-OKC President Jerry Carroll.
The event began in the nearby Horticulture Pavilion with remarks from new OSU System President Burns Hargis, Kirkpatrick Family Fund President Christian Keesee, Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Secretary Terry Peach, and Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Houston Davis.
The Agriculture Resource Center’s conservatory is a living laboratory to display a variety of plants carefully cultivated by horticulture students and faculty. At night the conservatory is brightly lit making a glowing addition to the Oklahoma City’s skyline.
Each room is designed to maximize student learning experiences. Most of the first floor consists of animal x-ray labs, surgical and exam rooms, kennels and a large animal clinic with a non-slip floor.
The second floor houses floral design labs, a floral refrigerator and lecture rooms. From the second floor, a balcony overlooks the large animal clinic allowing students to observe without exciting the animals.
This new building adds 33,000 square feet to the existing John E. Kirkpatrick Horticulture Center, bringing the entire Agriculture Division under one roof. Increased enrollment in agriculture programs is anticipated in response to these new resources. For more information on the agriculture programs offered at OSU-OKC, visit
